Halibut

Halibut, originally uploaded by theartofwandering.

These little guys are born with eyes on both sides of their head like a salmon. They swim around like a salmon for six months until one of their eyes rotates to the middle of one side of the body. The halibut now swims around flat like a flounder. One side of the halibut then turns greyish brown to disguise it with the ocean bottom. The other side stays white so when large predators are below it they have trouble distinguishing it from the sun above. Yep!
